At 1218, near Kolbert, Germany, the aircraft was damaged by rockets from German fighters, the aircraft winged over to the left and climbed slightly before the all 10 crew members bailed out. The next day the body of Co-Pilot 2nd Lt David Janofsky was brought to Svaneke by the cutter "Anna" to which the German ship "Josef Stadtland" had transferred the body. Janofsky was buried on 14 April 1944 in Svaneke Churchyard by the Army chaplain of the German Wehrmacht.
