On route back, after bombing target, aircraft went North around heavy clouds at 23,000 feet. Low on oxygen and gas, aircraft broke from formation on way back to base. The aircraft crashed into the North Sea. All KIA. On 14 May 1945 the body of the co-pilot, 2nd Lt Leonard W. Beadle, washed up at Zoutelande, Netherlands, near beach post 14. None of the other 8 crew members were ever found.
