While tranporting plane and crews back to the states, this B-17F left Lagens, heading for Newfoundland. Pilot reported #3 engine out, losing altitude. Aircraft ditched in North Atlantic. 4 rescued, 15 missing (KIS). All 10 on-board personnel were members of the 862nd Bomb Group.
